CHARACTER ROLES

Summer-Black female 8 year old with slim build. Summer is shy and naïve and speaks with a southern accent. Her favorite things are being outdoors and junk food. She has a very loving and accepting nature. She is very innocent and doesn’t yet realize the extent of the dangers she is faced with.

Adele-Summer’s mom is a Black female in her mid to late 30’s. She is a slim to medium build and a very loving yet stern mom. She is in a relationship with a man named Mack but because of her past bad relationships she is very guarded. She is the head of her household and works long hours to keep her family afloat.

Michael-Black male teenager 14 years old. He is a good kid with a big heart. Although he gives his little sister a hard time he protects her vehemently. He has become accustomed to having a lot a freedom so now having to be confined to his home is hard but he accepts it because he understands the danger. But being home means he can’t protect Summer and this worries him more than his own safety.

Toya- Black Female 8 year old with stockier build. Summer’s best friend and voice of reason. Toya and Summer do everything together and enjoy many of the same things but Toya is a lot more street savvy and witty. She is effortlessly funny and has a lot of attitude.

Slim- Black male in late teens. Tall and slender build. Slim is laid back but popular. He and Summer’s sister Faith are friends. However, the Slim everyone knows has a dark side that leads him to manipulate and take any opportunity to take advantage of those around him.

Mack-Black Male early to mid-40’s. Tall and powerful presence yet loving and kind. He cares very much for Adele and her kids. Summer is his favorite and he loves her as if she were his own. He will do anything to make her happy.

Candy Lady (Brenda) – Older Black woman. She is also a cat lover and hoarder. She is not very friendly even though she deals with kids all day. However, she is very aware of the dangerous climate in the community and worries for the safety of the kids in the neighborhood.

Lee Lee-Black female 6 to 8 year old. She wears thick glasses and has a slight speech impediment. Very sweet buy lonely little girl.

Lee Lee’s Dad (Old Yella) - Black male with small build in his 50’s – 60’s. He is a heavy drinker and it is apparent in his appearance.

Pre-teen boy 1-Black male 11 to 13 years old. Bully who likes to terrorize younger kids.
